Now even though the organization will be able to choose the “Extended Stable” release cycle 8 weeks instead of the 4-week release cycle set to be the initial default with Microsoft Edge 94.

The new “Extended Stable” release cycle option will be available for all edge users starting in September by releasing version 94 of the company’s browser.

After the organization chooses in a new release cycle, Microsoft Edge Stable will receive a cumulative feature update that aligns with an average browser release. New features added in the odd release will then be packaged and delivered as part of the next numbered release according to the new blog post from the Microsoft Edge blog.

The IT administrator will be able to choose a new 8-week release cycle for Microsoft Edge stable by using the “TargetChannel” group policy where they will choose the “Extended Stable” option. If not, Edge will default to the “stable” release cycle 4 weeks.
