Peacock NBC may not be the first streaming service (or second, or third) that comes to mind when you want to watch movies or pursue TV shows. This platform finally got relevance in the streaming market, however, with a big deal that will bring new Dreamworks and universal films to Peacock in a few months after attaching the theater.
Back in March, the word appeared that Universal Pictures considered the steps that would place his new film in Peacock in a few months from the release of their theater. This, noted at that time, would be a big step for the company, who currently operates his new film for HBO in half a year of theater release.
Note, Comcast has a nbcuniversal, which has a universal image. NBCUNIniversal is also a company behind Peacock, making it reasonable for the company to finally move the film to its own streaming platform. It made a confirmation today about rumors mentioned above less than shocking.
Peacock will be an exclusive house for new Universal Pictures films, which will be available for streaming on platforms no more than four months after they hit the theater, according to CNBC. The same thing applies to the new Dreamworks film, with an agreement scheduled to start in 2022.
After a period of four months, Universal films will also be available for other distributors, which means consumers will not be forced to register for Peacock if they are satisfied with other options (and a few months waiting). Beyond that, consumers can also expect some universal film films that will be the original Peacock.
