With the announcement of Windows 11, some people might assume that Microsoft will focus its efforts on the next Windows installments, and they will be right and wrong at the same time. Microsoft still has a commitment to serve Windows 10 users, and not only with security patches and ordinary bug fixes. In fact, the company has just announced the existence of updates to the upcoming Windows 10 21H2 feature this year. However, don’t expect big changes, because it will only have a series of coverage features delivered using “service technology.”
What Microsoft means every time throws that a “service technology” troubled is that it will use the same shipping system used for the regular maintenance update. This means that updates must interfere with minimal, even if you will be asked to reboot. This also means there should be no new features that solve existing functionality.
This will be a third “scoped” update after Windows 20H2 and Windows 21H1. The three were based on the same window 10 version 2004 which was released in the first half of 2020. That would enable the installation experience of Windows 10 21H2 to be fast for anyone who runs three versions of this operating system.
Microsoft Temper expectations by saying that the release will be focused on productivity and security, but that does not mean there will be no new features. The new features, however, will not appeal to everyone, such as Windows Hello support for business users. Developers using the Windows subsystem for Linux (WSL) might be happy with the upcoming support for GPU and Azure Iot Edge computing.
The company does not provide certain launch dates for Windows 10 21H2 other than around the second half of this year, as the name suggests. However, it has begun to launch build into people in Windows, especially the system does not meet the requirements for Windows 11. Microsoft promises the usual 18-month support for the edition of the house and pros and 30 months for the company’s version and education of Windows 10 21H2.
